He Wept

This "Pre-Easter" sermon from Sunday struck me differently than ever before...I remember being overwhelmed by the sadness of those that physically assaulted the King.  I remember feeling emotionally saddened and then gloriously revived when we study the Risen Savior.  Yes, these are important ways to recall what this Holy season means in the hearts of believers...

I realized this weekend that Jesus hurt on the inside.  He hurt for those who loved Him outwardly and insisted He be their earthly King.  He hurt because He knew they did not really KNOW Him.  They new about Him.  Do you hear others say that Jesus knows what we are feeling because He was God on earth and was given every human characteristic apart from sin?  Until this past Sunday, I never really absorbed that.  Take it in, my friends.  He wept.  For a God-man to weep, He must have been hurt to the core!

Meditate with me over the next couple of days about this journey into Jerusalem from the perspective of the doctor Luke.

When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
“Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
“I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

Ladies, when was the last time you wept?  A month ago, last night, this morning?  Weeping comes from pain within--from built up emotions.  Take comfort in knowing our God weeps, but also know I think Scripture points out that He weeps when we do not know Him, really KNOW Him.

I am praying that today our hearts are quieted and we get the KNOW Him-King Jesus!
